Jobs

Now Hiring for 2010

  • Work for a noble cause.
  • Gain valuable job experience.
  • Pursue personal development.
  • Live in a beautiful mountain valley.
  • Enjoy outdoor activities—hiking, swimming, etc.
Menla is operated by Tibet House US, whose mission is to help preserve the culture and wisdom of Tibet. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is our Patron, and Robert Thurman, one of the world’s foremost scholars on Tibet, is our President.

Set on 320 acres in the heart of the historic Catskill Mountains and surrounded by a stunning national forest preserve, Menla offers complete privacy in a tranquil setting. Menla is a perfect environment for engaging your spiritual practice and artistic expression. This woodland valley is an authorized Audubon Society bird sanctuary. Throughout the four seasons, visitors can enjoy the fresh mountain air and savor the natural beauty of the valley’s exquisite landscape and abundant wildlife. Take advantage of our hiking trails, outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, fitness center, and wellness services. Wi-fi is available in our main buildings. About 2 hrs north of New York City, Menla is conveniently located near Woodstock, known for its local music and art scene. There are also numerous outdoor and cultural activities in the region.

Menla serves as the setting for all of Tibet House’s residential retreats and other special programs. There are about a dozen Tibet House-sponsored programs slated for this year (soon to be posted at http://www.menla.org/MenlaProgramandEvents.html). The rest of our schedule is devoted to serving a wide array of outside organizations who rent our facilities for their workshops and programs. Although we are very busy, there are occasional periods of down time as well.

The staff is small at Menla, and we all wear many hats. Working here is dynamic, inspiring, and fun! We are looking for self-motivated hard-working staff who desire to be part of solid team, are friendly and flexible, have excellent customer service skills, and a desire to offer the best of themselves in a unique environment.

While Menla is not a 24/7 dharma center, there are numerous dharma and yoga retreats that take place here. As a member of our staff, you would be entitled to attend Tibet House and most yoga programs, schedule permitting. In addition, the staff benefits from exposure to a wide variety of spiritual and holistic paradigms and personal interactions with people of diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Working here provides an opportunity to give service to a deeply important cause.
